The roly-poly toy is a very interesting small toy. In fact, a beautiful roly-poly can be simply made with an egg. Quickly teach your baby how to make the roly-poly toy with an egg.
One, Materials
A little sand or rice, a bowl, chopsticks, one egg (white shell preferred because white can better contrast the pattern), color pens, a cone (or a needle), a roll of double-sided tape, and a piece of colored paper.
Two, How to make an egg roly-poly
1. Select an egg, preferably with a white shell because the white background can better highlight the pattern. Use a cone (or a needle or chopsticks) to make a small hole at the top of the smaller end of the egg. Note: eggshells are very fragile, so don't use too much force when making the hole.
2. Turn the small hole downward, pour the egg white and yolk into the bowl. After pouring, rinse the egg with clear water.
3. Carefully fill the egg with sand (or rice) until the larger end of the egg can stand on the table. Alternatively, use a lighter to light a candle and let the melted wax flow in. This process takes about 15 minutes.
4. Cut a fan shape from the colored paper. Use double-sided tape to stick the fan shape into a clown hat. Of course, you can also make other shapes of hats or head decorations. You can also use yarn for the egg's hair. If the roly-poly is a girl, you can also use red and pink yarn for the head decoration.
5. "Wear" the clown hat and hair on the smaller end of the egg (the end with the hole), and stick it tightly. The hat must completely cover the hole.
6. Use the color pen to draw beautiful big eyes and a small nose on the eggshell, then use a red pen to draw a small mouth for the roly-poly. This way, a beautiful and lovely roly-poly is done.
Three, Introduction to the principle of the roly-poly
Objects that are light on top and heavy on the bottom are more stable, meaning the lower the center of gravity, the more stable it is. When the roly-poly is balanced in a vertical state, the distance between the center of gravity and the contact point is the smallest, i.e., the center of gravity is the lowest. After deviating from the balanced position, the center of gravity always rises. Therefore, this state of balance is stable. So no matter how the roly-poly sways, it will never fall over. In life, to increase the stability of objects, we often add weight to the bottom, such as electric fan bases, microphone stands, bus stop signs, etc.
Teaching your baby how to make a roly-poly toy with an egg is really fun. No matter how you shake it, it can always stand up again. Everyone should give it a try!
