Introduction to the Plot of TVB's New Series "Tai Chi"

Orphan Wu Ma (Zhao Wenzhuo) grew up in the mountains, learning Tai Chi from his master since childhood. The experience of being abandoned by his parents made him full of hatred for the world; to help remove the lingering hatred in Ma's heart, his master sacrificed himself. In order to repay his master and fulfill his father's wish to promote martial arts, Ma embarked on the path to pursue the highest realm of Tai Chi. Thus, he challenged Duan Xiaoxing (Lok Fung), the leader of the top sect Canglong Sect, but ended up losing to him; his life henceforth became centered on defeating Xiaoxing as his goal. Moreover, due to a woman named Yan Zigui (Stephy Tang) and the ambitious southern martial artist Luqiu Ao (Kwok Cheng-hung), they inevitably clashed repeatedly.

On the other hand, Ma’s distance from his beloved friend Sang Qing (Wu Meiheng) grows larger as he strives to achieve his ideals…

During a military hunt, a wild boar was shot, but it was snatched away by Wu Ma. Surrounded by soldiers, Wu Ma fought against them all alone and successfully escaped. Meanwhile, Feng Nian went with his mother Pu Shi and his fiancée Sang Qing to sell vegetables at the market. During this time, Pu Shi treated Sang Qing harshly, yet Sang Qing endured everything silently. A wealthy village landlord Ning announced that villagers would have to pay taxes, causing great hardship to the villagers.

Wu Ma took the wild boar to the market to exchange it for a bag of rice but encountered Ning's army demanding he pay taxes. Wu Ma refused resolutely, angering Ning. On the other hand, Feng Nian often went to the mountain to find Wu Ma, hoping to become friends with him, but Wu Ma, who was naturally reclusive, didn't say much. When Feng Nian injured his foot because of Wu Ma, Wu Ma carried him down the mountain, only to be accused by Mi Pu of harming her son. Wu Ma's home was burned down by Ning, so Wu Ma went to Ning's house to cause trouble and was surrounded by people. Wu Ma then held Ning's son hostage and locked him inside the house. At this moment, Feng Nian arrived and volunteered to persuade Wu Ma to release Ning's son.

Sang Qing, knowing that Feng Nian and Wu Ma were trapped inside the house, brought food into the room. After eating, Wu Ma fainted, as Sang Qing had secretly put sleeping medicine in the food out of fear for Feng Nian's safety. Despite being severely injured, Wu Ma managed to escape alive, and Feng Nian said he would help him flee the village.

The two arrived in the capital city and joined the army, hoping to make something of themselves. However, upon reaching the battlefield, they realized they were supposed to kill Zigui and Cuiao's younger brother, which they couldn’t bring themselves to do, and instead helped Zigui and Cuiao escape...
