Synopsis of Pigeon Whistle:
"Pigeon Whistle" is a Beijing-style TV series. The story begins in the late 1970s, reflecting the tremendous changes in the lives of Chinese people over the past 30 years of reform and opening-up through the joys and sorrows and mental journeys of several ordinary families in an old Beijing courtyard.
The earthquake in 1976 caused a feud between Mrs. Yang and Ms. Mi who lived in the same courtyard, and they vowed never to speak again. However, Mrs. Yang's son, Yang Yanping, and Ms. Mi's daughter, Mi Xiaoxiu, had been in love since childhood and had already established a romantic relationship. When Yang Yanping returned from Heilongjiang, he found that Xiaoxiu, who had returned from Shanxi, had changed greatly, becoming more worldly and vulgar. There were also rumors that Xiaoxiu had traded her body for the opportunity to return to the city. This was something Yanping could not accept, and they eventually broke up. Deeply hurt, Xiaoxiu became determined to live better than anyone else by her own efforts. She started doing business with Shengzi, a young man from the same courtyard. From selling vegetables at the market to selling clothes at the Xidan night market, to opening their own store... Xiaoxiu and Shengzi's business grew bigger and bigger.
