Plot Introduction:

"The Founding of a Republic" tells a series of stories that occurred from the end of the Anti-Japanese War in 1945 to the eve of the founding of the People's Republic of China in 1949. The film focuses primarily on the preparation process for the first plenary session of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, reflecting the tumultuous times leading up to the establishment of New China. Director Huang Jianxin stated that this film represents a new breakthrough compared to previous main melody films, with some lesser-known stories being uncovered and portrayed. Among these is an in-depth depiction of the relationship between father and son, Chiang Kai-shek and Chiang Ching-kuo.
