At the end of "The Fast and The Furious", Officer Brian lets Dom go. Afterwards, Dom flees to the Dominican Republic where he meets Han (a key character in "The Fast and The Furious: Tokyo Drift"). On the other hand, Officer Brian is sent to jail for letting a key criminal escape. However, he is released after completing a secret mission given to him by the government. Meanwhile, Dom's girlfriend Letty maintains Dom's business by transporting drugs for Barga, a drug lord in the southern United States. But later, Barga kills Letty to destroy the evidence. Mia (Dom's sister) informs Dom through a phone call. Dom then returns to the US to attend Letty's funeral, where he meets Officer Brian. Brian is about to pursue the capture of the drug dealer Barga, and without hesitation, Dom joins him. Thus begins the new plot.
