According to a message from the Ubuntu official mailing list, Ubuntu 9.10, codenamed Karmic Koala, will cease to receive updates and technical support on April 30, 2011. The official release of Ubuntu 9.10 was on October 29, 2009, and over the past 18 months, Ubuntu has been committed to continuously releasing security patches and critical updates for Ubuntu 9.10. Now, this period of support is nearing its end. After April 30, 2011, Ubuntu's security and information updates will no longer include Ubuntu 9.10.
