The Chinese translation for "YouTube" is merely a fantasy.

I think the Chinese version of YouTube will not be very good. Search engines, blogs, spaces, etc. cannot do localization well, so how can videos? To put it bluntly, it is completely for the stock market to see, and it has little significance for Chinese Internet users.

The video sharing in China started not late. Although YouTube was acquired by Google at a high price, there is no good way for its profit. Its development stage is not much earlier than domestic video sharing sites like Youku. It's just because of the different network infrastructure status in different countries.

Youku, as a representative of Chinese video sharing sites, has already gained the recognition of a large number of Internet users. Netizens encounter video sharing because of their contributions and platforms, not the faraway YouTube. For a small part of people, YouTube may be cool as a foreign thing, but for the vast majority of netizens, YouTube does not have much meaning.

I think there are several obstacles that YouTube cannot overcome:

1. Server advantage. Servers abroad definitely cannot meet the needs of videos. The servers, bandwidth, and acceleration of Youku and Ku6 are something that YouTube cannot achieve.

2. Tube means pipe. YouTube is easier to remember than Youku, which has a good name given by Mr. Liu Ren! The name is not in Chinese, the foreign name is cool, but netizens find it hard to remember. Ku6 is also easy to remember, so I remember it.

3. Cultural and legal differences. Yahoo, eBay and other giants have to lower their proud heads in China. Chinese netizens are not interested in American culture. The video field is a copyright-intensive field, and a few incidents will make YouTube crash.

4. The Internet industry seems not to favor cross-border hybridization. Yuan Longping's hybrid rice is high-yielding, but Yang Zhiyuan's hybrid Yahoo China is not high-yielding, showing that our country's Internet has deep-rooted xenophobic genes.

YouTube in Chinese is only to make the stock market look good and to make investors look good. Netizens will not treat it as a treasure.
