The performance of modern graphics cards is getting stronger and stronger, and in some aspects, it can rival or even surpass that of CPUs. Besides gaming, graphics cards have other uses as well. For example, they can decode high-definition video programs. By utilizing the built-in decoder in the GPU hardware to decode video streams, this method is much more efficient than using only CPU-based software decoding, thus saving CPU resources. This approach is called "hardware decoding" or "hard decoding."
