Troubleshooting Features in the Evolution of Windows 7

NVIDIA and AMD have both recently introduced collaboration solutions between discrete and integrated graphics cards, named Hybrid SLI and Hybrid CrossFireX respectively. Both promise to bring better performance on one hand, and the flexibility to reduce system power consumption on the other. However, Microsoft does not view this new technology favorably. In a document titled "Windows 7 System Graphics Guide" released recently, Microsoft stated: "These types of systems require a restart to switch between graphics cards. Windows 7 will not provide support for hybrid graphics systems. We strongly advise system manufacturers against launching such products, as they are unstable and will lead to poor user experiences."
