According to the Macao Chief Executive Election Ordinance, one must be nominated by at least 50 out of the 300 election committee members in order to qualify as a candidate for Chief Executive. Each election committee member can only nominate one candidate. Since Ho Iat Seng has already received nominations from 286 election committee members, even though the nomination period has not yet ended, it is already certain that there will be no other candidates. After being verified by the Election Commission, Ho Iat Seng will be announced as the sole candidate for the new Chief Executive of Macao on July 2nd.

Out of the 300 election committee members, 286 have nominated him, while his "opponent" has not received any nominations from the election committee members.

Former Secretary for Social Affairs and Culture of the Macao SAR Government, Ho Iat Seng, submitted the Nomination Form for Candidates for the Election of the Chief Executive on the afternoon of June 16th. He received nominations from 286 out of the 300 Chief Executive Election Committee members, indicating that his campaign ideals and objectives have been supported and recognized by the vast majority of election committee members. This means that Ho Iat Seng will become the sole candidate for the third term Chief Executive of Macao.
