The simulated man is just like a real person. He can talk, sweat, and shed tears, etc. (Photo by Zhao Bin, our staff reporter) According to the news report by our staff reporter Li Lin: "The patient's heart has suddenly stopped beating, his lips have turned blue, and his eyes are closed. Start resuscitation immediately." Several doctors quickly approached and administered emergency measures such as external cardiac compression and artificial respiration to the "patient". After about ten minutes, the "patient's" heartbeat gradually returned to normal.
This is not an ordinary patient. His name is "simMan3G" - the third generation of simulated human. He recently made an appearance in Xi'an mainly to assist in teaching and clinical doctor training at Xijing Hospital.
He is very capable, able to sweat, shed tears, and even bleed.
Yesterday afternoon, at the Clinical Skills Training Center of the Medical Education Department of Xijing Hospital, there lay a foreign handsome man around 30 years old, 1.8 meters tall - "simMan3G", dressed in a blue and white patient gown on the bed, blinking his eyes occasionally. His heartbeat was strong, his breathing even. The monitoring instruments beside him displayed his vital signs: pulse 80, body temperature 37°C, heart rate 80... Suddenly, he began to breathe rapidly and his heart stopped. After "resuscitation," he gradually returned to normal. "The imported simMan3G costs millions and is the most expensive and smartest simulated human we have here. He can sweat, shed tears, produce nasal mucus, and even bleed. He can also speak Shaanxi dialect," said Yang Guitao, director of the Training Center. Speaking "Shaanxi dialect" and sweating are skills controlled by the doctor through a computer at the back end. It is introduced that "simMan3G" is currently the most advanced product in international simulation medical education. Not only does he look like a real person, but he can also simulate various physiological and pathological characteristics of patients, producing corresponding physiological reactions to the treatment operations of the "doctor," displaying various physiological data on the monitor connected to the simulated human.
If the wrong medicine is used, he will feel pain and may die.
"Any clinical case can be inputted through a computer, regardless of age. After inputting the data, he can develop heart disease or hypertension at any time. If the doctor uses the wrong medicine or the resuscitation procedure is incorrect, he will feel pain and may 'die'; conversely, if treated properly, he will recover like a real patient," Yang Guitao explained. There is a chip intelligent identification device under the robot's right arm which can automatically identify drug components, concentration, and dosage during medication administration, then provide feedback based on the medication situation.
It is understood that more than 700 simulated humans "live" in the Clinical Skills Training Center, with functions covering all diseases and surgeries imaginable. Just for heart sounds alone, one simulated human can simulate 130 types.
