Location: The roundabout at the head of Houzhu Bridge in the Taiwan Merchant Investment Zone.
Event Record: He, trapped under the car wheel, furrowed his brows, endured the excruciating pain, his body unable to move, but his eyes kept staring at the woman about three meters ahead, crushed under the rear wheel of the car. That was his wife. With an increasingly weak voice, he called out to the traffic police and firefighters on the scene: "Save my wife first," "Save my wife first"... However, until he was lifted onto the stretcher, he still didn't know that his wife had already passed away. He didn't know that despite the short distance between them, they were now worlds apart.
[Rescue Scene] From start to finish, he was constantly worried about his wife.
At the accident site, a cement mixer truck with license plate number Min C71565 was parked in the middle of the road. Its left front wheel was pressing down on a man and a motorcycle, while its left rear wheel was pressing down on a woman. The man's head was facing the rear of the car, and he was holding a woven bag in his arms. From his perspective, he could clearly see the woman about three meters away. That was his wife; half of her body had been caught under the wheel.
At around 2:30 PM, Huian Fire Department arrived at the scene and quickly began the rescue operation. After multiple methods of rescue, including using jacks, proved ineffective, the fire department called in a large crane to prepare to lift the entire cement mixer from the front end to save the two people trapped. During the fire department's rescue efforts, the man repeatedly said in a weak voice, "Save my wife first," "Save my wife first"... Every three or four seconds, he would repeat this plea.
At 2:50 PM, the front of the cement mixer was lifted, and the man was quickly pulled out. His right leg bone was exposed and bent in the opposite direction, indicating serious injuries. As he was lifted onto the stretcher and taken into the ambulance, the man still shouted, "Save my wife first." A few minutes later, the woman was rescued, but after examination by the on-site medical staff, she was declared dead.
[Behind the Accident] The 21-year-old son pounded his chest wildly in grief.
After the traffic police conducted an on-site investigation, they speculated that the motorcycle may have been traveling towards the coastal expressway at the bridgehead roundabout when it was hit by the cement mixer coming from behind, causing both people to be dragged under the vehicle.
During the rescue process, a young man rushed to the scene in an agitated state. Upon seeing the woman trapped under the car wheel, he suddenly started pounding his chest wildly. After the trapped man was rescued, this young man also followed the ambulance and left. Afterwards, relatives and neighbors of the deceased and injured gradually arrived at the scene.
According to the sister of the injured man, the couple involved in the accident were her second brother and sister-in-law. Her second brother's surname is Lin, and her sister-in-law's surname is Zhuang. Both are 47 years old and are from Luoyang, Huian. She said that the couple usually worked in Quanzhou. Yesterday, after work, they rode their motorcycle home. The emotionally charged young man earlier was their son, 21 years old, working locally in Huian. They also have a daughter working in Fuzhou. Due to the sudden nature of the incident, the family had not yet managed to inform her.
Currently, the Traffic Police Brigade of the Taiwan Merchant Investment Zone has intervened in the investigation of this case, and the driver responsible for the accident has been controlled by the police.
