Chongqing Jiulongpo fire fighters successfully rescue an elderly scavenger trapped on a cliffside by the river for 4 days
August 23rd, Beijing - According to reports (journalist Sun Ying, correspondent Liu Fujin), at noon on August 21st, the Yangjiaping Fire Station in Jiulongpo District, Chongqing received an order from the 119 command center. An elderly man in his 80s was trapped on the edge of a cliff by the river near Longfeng Temple on Zhigang Avenue in Jiulongpo District. The situation was urgent. After receiving the alarm, the station quickly dispatched one rescue vehicle and seven firefighters to rush to the scene.
At 1:19 PM upon arrival, the officers carefully investigated the surrounding terrain and found the trapped elderly man under a large rock by the river, with the river behind him. Due to the age of the trapped person, the firefighters decided to use safety ropes, belts, and other equipment for the rescue, while specially assigning personnel to stabilize the trapped person's emotions. Ten minutes later, the rescuers successfully saved the trapped elderly man.
It is understood that the trapped person originally came to the riverside near Longfeng Temple to scavenge on August 18th but unfortunately fell off the cliff. Because the elderly man was injured in multiple places and could not move, he curled up under the rock to avoid the scorching sun, and the only sustenance was river water. Thus, he was trapped there for four days until fortunately being discovered by the public who promptly reported it, allowing the man to be rescued.
The elderly man was soon sent to the hospital for emergency treatment.
