Walk into a home furnishings mart, on every floor where a specific category of items is concentrated, there's always a sign that displays the star brands of last month's sales. In most cases, it lists the top ten based on sales volume. Among dozens or even hundreds of similar brands gathered in one place, being able to appear on the top ten sales ranking naturally signifies a brand recognized by consumers, and it serves as a guide for consumption. Many consumers make purchases precisely because of this ranking. In order to secure a good rank, some brands go so far as to create the illusion of robust sales by issuing "fake orders." This has become an unspoken "underground rule" in the home furnishings industry. As a result, what was originally a guide for consumption turns into a misleading "deceptive chart."
