Northeast Network, January 12 - Two groups of sewer workers clashed over territory and job competition, leading to a mass brawl with an arranged location for the fight. On January 5, the Harbin police arrested five suspects involved in the incident.
Lu and Zhong are a married couple who work in the sewer cleaning business in Harbin. On September 8, 2011, Zhong received a call from someone claiming to be Hu: "Your sewer cleaning advertisement has covered ours. We've been working in the Third Big Power Road area for more than 10 years, and no one has dared to take my business. You'd better quit this area." Zhong refused the demand after hearing it.
At around 4 PM on September 16, Zhong received a call from a customer on Liancao Street saying her sewer was blocked and asked Zhong to come and clean it. Zhong quickly left with her husband Lu. When they were waiting for the customer at the agreed location, they noticed a group of people approaching them. After talking, Lu and Zhong learned that the leader was Hu, and they were also there to clean the sewer. Hu demanded that Lu stop taking his business and kicked Zhong a few times during the argument. Eventually, both sides decided to settle the dispute through a fight, agreeing to meet at the intersection of Zhengyi Road and Kexue Research Road, with the losing side forbidden to solicit customers in the Third Big Power area again.
Lu then contacted Zhao, who owns a game hall, arranging for Zhao to find people to fight, promising him a benefit fee of 10,000 yuan. Zhao recruited Jin, aged 19, asking him to gather more than ten people to rush to the fight location. At around 7 PM, when Jin and his group arrived, Hu had already brought more than ten people armed with weapons. Without exchanging words, the two groups started fighting with clubs and knives. During the fight, one of Hu's men was seriously injured with a ruptured spleen, and some of Jin's group were also hurt.
After the incident, the police conducted external investigations and detailed checks, arresting Jin, the main member of the malicious gang, in Suiling County. On January 8, 2012, the police arrested suspects Zhong, Lu, Xiao Bo, and Xiao Jie. Currently, all five have been criminally detained, and the other members are still being pursued.
