According to reports, early today, the bicycle that was lost in Wuhan by Japanese global cyclist Kawahara Keiichiro has been returned after being purchased from the black market. On the 17th, while visiting Wuhan, Kawahara Keiichiro, a Japanese global cyclist, lost his bicycle worth 16,000 yuan, which drew considerable attention.

Yesterday, according to a friend of Kawahara Keiichiro, he is a global solo cyclist who has already cycled alone through more than ten countries and regions. After passing through places like Shanghai and Jiangsu, he arrived in Wuhan three weeks ago.

On the afternoon of the 17th, Kawahara went to the nearby Han Street in Wuchang's Sha Lake area for sightseeing with his friends. Since Han Street is a pedestrian street where bicycles are not allowed, and his bike did not have a stand, he could only park it leaning against a wall beside the street. According to his fellow travelers, the elderly man responsible for watching over the bikes asked them to retrieve their bike before 8 pm when he finished work. However, Kawahara and his friends forgot the time and came back at 8:30 pm to find that the bicycle, which had accompanied him through more than ten countries, was nowhere to be seen.

Kawahara’s friends helped him report the loss to the police. The next day, the police officers from the station found the elderly man who was supposed to watch over the bikes but got no clues regarding the missing bike.

Kawahara's friends said that since the bike wasn’t parked within the designated parking lines and they exceeded the agreed-upon time to watch over the bike, the elderly man would not be held responsible.

By 10 pm last night, news of the stolen bike had spread all over the internet, with more than 8,000 people participating in the vote initiated on Weibo. The Wuhan police's official Weibo account "Ping'an Wuhan" released a message stating that at 9 pm on the 17th, the Dongting Police Station of the Wuchang Public Security Bureau received a report from Kawahara Keiichiro, who was visiting Wuhan, claiming that his bicycle parked at the entrance of Han Street in the Dongting area had been stolen. The Wuchang police stated that they would provide Kawahara Keiichiro with a bicycle to facilitate his continued journey in Wuhan.
