Ji Sixiang, who played "Sheng Xiang" in the TV series Covert Affairs, was recently found by the police of Qiqihar city, Heilongjiang Province to be a fugitive who was involved in the 1998 gang attack on policemen and robbery of guns. Ji had been on the run for 13 years. It was also discovered that his adopted daughter was born to his wife and her ex-husband. On December 7, 2011, Ji Sixiang was captured. On January 10, 2012, the Tiefeng District Procuratorate of Qiqihar City approved the arrest of the criminal suspect Ji Sixiang for robbery.

At around 7 p.m. on December 6, 1998, Yang Lin, a detective of the Tiefeng Public Security Bureau of the Qiqihar Public Security Bureau of Heilongjiang Province, was taking a walk with his wife on the street when four dark shadows suddenly appeared behind them. "Don't move, or I'll kill you!" "I'm a policeman!" Yang Lin shouted loudly. However, before he finished speaking, Yang Lin was stabbed twice in the chest and back and fell to the ground. Subsequently, the criminals searched him without restraint, robbed all the property on his body, and tried to take away the "Type 77" pistol at Yang Lin's waist. Yang Lin was later diagnosed with a broken spinal nerve. After appraisal, he suffered serious injuries and was rated as having an eighth-level disability, resulting in lifelong disability.

After extensive investigations, the Qiqihar Public Security Bureau and the Tiefeng Public Security Bureau quickly identified the suspects and captured the criminal suspect Wei Changjiang five months later. Wei Changjiang quickly confessed to the crime of colluding with Liu Xianpeng, Li Ming, and Ji Sixiang to stab a policeman, seize, and hide firearms. Li Ming and Liu Xianpeng were subsequently captured, while the criminal suspect Ji Sixiang remained at large. In 1999, Wei Changjiang was sentenced to life imprisonment, and Li Ming and Liu Xianpeng were sentenced to death.

The police listed Ji Sixiang, then 27 years old, as a wanted criminal online and carried out pursuits across half of China, but without success.

After the national "Clear Web" campaign began, the Qiqihar Public Security Bureau and the Tiefeng Public Security Bureau decided to investigate the "December 6, 1998" case of assaulting policemen and seizing guns as a homicide case after reviewing the records of wanted criminals over the years. The pursuit team conducted extensive investigations and visits.

On December 7, 2011, during a visit in Jinhua City, Zhejiang Province, the pursuit team found that a man with a Northeastern accent had physical characteristics extremely similar to those of the fugitive Ji Sixiang. After careful identification by the police, it was finally confirmed that the man was Ji Sixiang, who had been on the run for 13 years. At this time, Ji Sixiang had become "Zhang Guofeng". After setting up a control plan, the police captured the criminal suspect Ji Sixiang on the same day in Jinhua City.
