Time deployment is hard to please, free sightseeing is accused of sincerity

Free opening of scenic spots for tourists is originally a good thing. However, the free opening time is either in the off-season or on working days. Nanjing's free opening of scenic spots has been criticized as lacking sincerity. Yesterday, according to the Price Bureau of Nanjing City, based on the "Implementation Measures for the Administration of Ticket Prices of Tourist Sites in Nanjing City", all municipal and district-owned government-priced tourist sites that meet the conditions will fully establish a free opening day system this year, with a total of 39 scenic spots scheduling their free opening day.

According to the Price Bureau of Nanjing City, previously, the free open spots in Nanjing were mainly in the main urban areas, but now suburban scenic spots also have free opening days, such as the Pearl Spring Park in Pukou, the old street of Gaochun, the天生Bridge in Lishui, and Jinhu Lake in Liuhe, etc. "The government has done a lot of work, and it can be said that all qualified scenic spots have free opening days. The remaining ones are mainly temples and provincial-managed scenic spots," a relevant official from the Price Bureau told reporters.

[Two Questions]

Some scenic spots have "no scenery" on their opening days

Increasingly more scenic spots offering free opening days is originally a good thing for the people, but after carefully examining the published list of free opening days yesterday, I found that some scenic spots' time arrangement for free opening days makes people feel very unhappy.

Take the Mochou Lake Park for example, the citizens of Nanjing all know that the most beautiful season here is every spring and summer. In spring, one can enjoy crabapple flowers, and in summer, lotus flowers. But the free opening day is December 3rd, which is exactly the cold late autumn when everything is withering, and there is nothing nice to see. Actually, this season in Nanjing has its beauty too, that is the red maple leaves in Qixia Mountain, which are bright red in November and December, but the free opening day of Qixia Mountain is set on August 1st.

There are quite a few similar cases. For instance, the Pearl Spring Scenic Area is famous for its water, and its peak tourist season is also in spring and summer. It is arranged to offer free entry at the end of December, and it is uncertain how many citizens would like to go to Pukou in the cold winter to "enjoy" this free day.

In response to this, a relevant official from the Price Bureau of Nanjing City said that the specific date of the free opening day this year was decided by each scenic spot according to its own situation, "Currently, it is mainly in the promotion stage, encouraging scenic spots to first establish the free opening system. And many scenic spots are not fully funded by the government, so it is difficult to intervene too much." However, citizens cannot help but question whether some scenic spots have arranged their free opening days too casually in response to the government's people-oriented policies?

Only 2 scenic spots offer free entry on weekends

In addition to some scenic spots arranging the free season improperly to suit the citizens' preferences, I also found that among the 39 scenic spots that established free opening days, only the Science and Technology Museum and the Museum scheduled their free days on weekends. The other 27 scenic spots' free opening days are all scheduled on weekdays, and quite a few scenic spots chose Monday as their free opening day, which brought inconvenience to some citizens who hope to travel and visit for free. Many citizens suggest that while scenic spots implement government regulations, relevant government departments should still provide more guidance to truly do good things well and let citizens enjoy benefits universally.

Provincial scenic spots are temporarily not offering free opening days

I learned that currently, there are dozens of large and small scenic spots in Nanjing City, among which several are provincial scenic spots, including the "Presidential Palace", Nanjing Zhongshan Botanical Garden, Zoological Exposition Park, Zijin Mountain Astronomical Observatory, Meiling Palace, etc. None of these provincial scenic spots appeared in the list of free opening days announced yesterday.

From the Provincial Price Bureau, I learned that currently, the Provincial Price Bureau has also made suggestions to relevant scenic spots, hoping they will refer to the scenic spots in Nanjing City and implement relevant local regulations. However, from the feedback information, these scenic spots have no plan to establish free opening days yet.
