What the policemen held were iron sheets adsorbed by magnets. Some drivers used this method to drive over speed crazily on highways. Chief reporter Wen Junyong took the photo. Location: Shenyang City In order to avoid being photographed by "electronic police", some drivers put a magnet behind their license plates and an iron sheet in front, thus the license plate number has changed. Although the traffic violation methods of car owners are innovated constantly, they cannot escape from the eyes of the traffic policemen. Early in the morning yesterday, all the policemen of the traffic police department of our province went out to severely investigate all kinds of traffic violations within their jurisdiction. Deputy Director Gao Hua of the Highway Administration Department of the Provincial Public Security Department Traffic Management Bureau led the policemen to strictly investigate vehicles passing by at Panjin service area of Beijing-Shenyang expressway. The policemen got onto every passing bus for inspection, checking the driving licenses, driver's licenses, operation licenses of the drivers and counting the number of people in the buses at the same time. "The concealment of license plates is generally aimed at avoiding being photographed by electronic eyes because of speeding. Drivers dismantle their license plates or deliberately conceal their license plates. All these belong to illegal behaviors, which affect normal traffic order and give criminals chances." Before Gao Hua finished his words, the walkie-talkie transmitted the voice of the policeman at the highway inspection point. "A vehicle with Beijing license plate deliberately concealed its license plate, please intercept and check it in time." A jeep with Beijing license plate was guided into the service area by the policemen. When the policemen came close, they found that the letter "E" on the license plate stood out. After the policemen moved the "E" away with their hands, the original letter of the license plate under it was exposed. After investigation, it turned out that the owner of the vehicle placed a magnet as big as a one-yuan coin behind the license plate and then placed a rectangular iron sheet shaped like the letter E in front of the license plate. The magnet behind fixed the letter in front firmly on the license plate, which could make the letter move arbitrarily and change the license plate. However, no matter how sophisticated this behavior was, it still could not escape from the eyes of the policemen. "I just wanted to go home for the Spring Festival hurriedly. I missed my home and wanted to see my parents earlier. I was also afraid of being photographed and fined because of speeding. I did not realize its severity. I will obey the traffic regulations in the future." This traffic offender kept explaining. In the following inspections, some offending vehicles pasted the horizontal inscription of couplets on the license plates, some covered the whole license plates with cloth, some stuck CDs on the license plates to cover the numbers, and some even dismantled the license plates. At Panjin service area, more than 30 private vehicles deliberately concealing their license plates and 3 overloaded buses were captured within only two hours. Deputy Director Gao Hua introduced that according to the provisions of the Road Traffic Safety Law, fines of 200 yuan would be imposed on those who conceal, block or do not hang license plates, and 6 points would be recorded. Fines of 5000 yuan would be imposed on those who forge or alter vehicle license plates, and 12 points would be recorded, and the drivers would be detained for 15 days. In the service area, more than 10 drivers were fined by the police because of various traffic violations. For the reasons of being punished, many drivers said that they were really anxious to go home for the Spring Festival, and some said that they went out to deal with emergencies. "Fines are just a kind of punishment. Reminding and constraining drivers to abide by the traffic regulations and ensuring driving safety are the main purposes." Gao Hua said that he reminded drivers that they should always put safety first no matter how busy or urgent it was. Only when their own safety and others' safety are guaranteed can they spend a good Spring Festival. Chief reporter Wen Junyong Intern Zhu Yini
