Bai Hao Yin Zhen and Bai Mu Dan refer to white teas made from green, hairy young leaves, which are whitened during processing; whereas Anji White Tea is a famous green tea processed according to green tea methods from the white young leaves of a special white-leaf tea variety. The jade-like color of Anji White Tea comes from the variety itself. Anji White Tea is both a rare variety of tea tree and a valuable brand name for white tea.

Experts further concluded that Anji White Tea is indeed the white tea mentioned in Emperor Huizong's "The Classic of Tea". Bai Hao Yin Zhen from Fuding, Fujian, originated in 1796 AD, so in terms of time, Anji White Tea predates the white tea in China's six major tea types by nearly seven centuries.

With the opportunity provided by history and time, and recognized by experts and scholars in China's tea academia, Anji White Tea officially established its brand and name in 2002. Since then, Anji White Tea, with its historical and cultural roots, has become more confident and gained greater renown than before.

It is not easy to build the cultural foundation of a brand. The Anji government has seriously engaged in construction and accumulation. In April 2001, the "2001 China - Anji White Tea Festival" was grandly held in Anji, hosted by the Anji White Tea Society of China, the Anji White Tea Research Institute of the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences, and the Zhejiang Provincial Department of Agriculture, and organized by the People's Government of Anji County. Anji County was named the "Hometown of Chinese White Tea" by the Organizing Committee of the China Famous Specialties Hometown and Publicity Activities. Currently, white tea has become one of the main contents of Anji's annual ecological cultural festival. In 2002, the Xilong Township, the main production area of white tea, built the White Tea Fairy Site Park after being the first to conduct white tea breeding cuttings. The递铺town where the Anji County Government is located built a white tea theme park, and the price of Anji White Tea was announced. In 2003, the Anji White Tea King was awarded the title of "White Tea Ancestor", and the White Tea Valley was developed into an Anji tourist attraction.
