Yesterday afternoon, on the elegant pavilion located at the center of Fenghe Tea Factory within the ten-thousand-mu tea garden in Guishan, Lai Jianhong, the president of the Anji White Tea Association, was personally holding samples of Anji white tea, instructing the newly recruited store managers and marketing personnel of Fenghe White Tea on how to distinguish between Anji white tea and white tea from other regions, as well as the grading standards for Anji white tea.
"Anji's unique microclimate nurtures its white tea. Anji white tea differs from white tea grown in other areas and has strict standards for planting, harvesting, and processing. The quality can be identified by observing the color, smelling the aroma, appreciating its uniqueness, and tasting it," Lai Jianhong explained. "For tea professionals who are involved in white tea cultivation, processing, and sales year-round, it is easy to differentiate. However, newly joined store owners must undergo training to be able to identify them."
After a detailed Q&A session, Lai Jianhong and the owner of Fenghe Tea took this group of 'newcomers' to the tea plantation on the back mountain for practical learning, familiarizing themselves with the growth process and picking standards of Anji white tea. It is reported that to expand marketing channels, Fenghe Tea has hired dedicated marketing personnel this year to go to various parts of the country, promoting Anji white tea prices, and has opened direct sales stores in Mudu, Jiangsu, and Puyuan Avenue in Anji.
The responsible person of the tea company introduced that for Anji white tea to move beyond the Yangtze River Delta region, Fenghe chose a marketing model combining direct sales and franchising with brand building, either relying on the channels of century-old shops or creating mother-child brands. So far, Fenghe White Tea has nearly 30 franchise stores and direct sales outlets nationwide.
