1. Guiding Fire Back to the Source Method: The Guiding Fire Back to the Source Method mainly involves pressing the Yongquan point, which is located on the sole of the foot. Every night before going to bed, wash your feet with warm water, sit cross-legged on the bed, hold your toes with one hand, and press the center of the sole with the other hand. Each press should cause a slight pain. Experts point out that the Yongquan point is a kidney meridian point, and rubbing this point can replenish the kidneys, invigorate essence, regulate qi and blood, and when the kidney energy is abundant, the body will be healthy and life prolonged.
2. Do Not Speak While Using the Toilet: In Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), it is believed that when using the toilet for bowel or urinary movements, one must clench their teeth as this helps to preserve kidney energy, especially for men who have suffered significant damage to their kidney essence. Why is this? Because the teeth are considered the "teeth of the kidney" and are an external manifestation of kidney essence. However, one should not excessively clench the teeth or hold onto it too tightly as this could deplete kidney energy. Instead, one should lightly bite down as if there were two jujube pits between the back molars. During the act of relieving oneself, one is in a state of inhaling and drawing energy inward, not opening or releasing it. Clenching the teeth and lifting the heels equates to replenishing kidney energy.
3. Eating Sesame Seeds: One method of kidney-nourishing is eating sesame seeds. Sesame seeds come in black, yellow, and white varieties, but only black sesame seeds correspond to the color of the kidneys and possess better medicinal value and health benefits. Yellow and white sesame seeds are only suitable for general food consumption. Black sesame seeds embody the springtime Qi of Jueyin and are ranked as the best among grains. They can replenish the five organs, strengthen muscles, and fill the brain marrow, and are listed as superior herbs in the *Shennong Bencao Jing*. Since they are used to replenish deficiencies and fill the brain marrow, it is essential to use plump sesame seeds. Remove any unripe seeds by washing them. When washing with water, the seeds that do not float are plump, while those that float are either spoiled, infested with insects, or unripe and should be discarded.
4. Breathing Heart Method: Stand upright, feet shoulder-width apart, arms raised straight above the head, crossed behind the head. At this point, the abdomen slightly protrudes forward, and both hands stretch upward as far as possible, concentrating all force and intention on the lumbar vertebrae. Then, the force emanates from the lumbar vertebrae, causing the arms to move in the largest arc from behind the head down to the sides of the body. Simultaneously, squat down, with the hands finally crossing between the knees. Concentrate the mind on the balls of the feet for 5 seconds at the end. The heels must not leave the ground. When standing up again, use the force of the balls of the feet as the starting energy, then concentrate all force and intention once more on the lumbar vertebrae, without using any strength in the legs, returning to a standing position. Keep the hands crossed, moving from the chest up over the head to behind the head.
5. Perineum Lift Exercise: Experts introduce that while in a relaxed state, practice abdominal breathing (inhale with the abdomen rising, exhale with the abdomen contracting) and gently contract the front genital area and anus during exhalation, relaxing during inhalation. Repeat this process 10 times.
