The 17-year-old suspect in a deadly shooting spree at an Ohio high school has appeared in juvenile court as the community mourns with the families of the three students who were killed. A prosecutor stated that suspect T.J. Lane admitted to bringing a .22-caliber pistol to Chardon High School and firing 10 shots at a group of students sitting at a cafeteria table on Monday.
A judge ordered Lane to be held for at least 15 days. The court hearing on Tuesday provided few answers regarding what motivated the shootings. The prosecutor described Lane as "someone who’s not well" and mentioned that the teen did not know the victims but selected them randomly. A fourth student who was injured remained in serious condition in the hospital late on Tuesday.
Police reported that an injured Chardon student was released from the hospital and is now home with her family. Flowers and candles sit next to the gazebo, where the community continues to grieve.
