"All day long, there are so many things happening. A citizen bought fake eggs from the supermarket, the yolk is more elastic than a ping-pong ball!" Zhao Shuheng said that on the day of the incident, the two had another argument about electricity and water usage issues. Although his ex-wife was present trying to mediate, Zhao Shuheng claimed, "He hit me first, punched my ear. I fell back against the wall and got angry," then he grabbed a knife from the windowsill and stabbed at the other person.
After the incident, Zhao Shuheng took a private car to Hebei, later went to his sister's house to get a change of clothes. Both his sister and nephew advised him to surrender himself, after which he went to see his daughter. On May 10th of the same year, at around 7 in the morning, he turned himself in to the criminal investigation team.
The court believed that Zhao Shuheng's actions constituted intentional homicide, but since he voluntarily surrendered himself after the crime and truthfully confessed, it was considered self-surrender. Therefore, he was sentenced leniently to life imprisonment and ordered to compensate the victim's family approximately 800,000 yuan.
According to the court's findings, at around 21:00 on May 8th, 2011, within the rented courtyard that Zhao Shuheng leased to Xue Mou, an argument occurred between Zhao Shuheng and Xue Mou. Subsequently, Zhao Shuheng used a sharp knife to stab Xue Mou in the head, face, neck, trunk, etc., leading to his death due to hemorrhagic shock.
Before the incident, Zhao Shuheng had a bungalow compound in Daxing District, which he rented out to Xue Mou who was engaged in second-hand furniture trading. Zhao Shuheng stated that he lived with his grandson at the western end of the yard, while Xue Mou and a woman lived at the eastern end. The two families were about 60 meters apart and shared one electricity meter. Due to disputes over electricity usage, they often quarreled.
