"Skip one steamed bun, donate money to save the teacher's life..." In recent days, Shi Meng, a student at No.1 Middle School in Jiangguan Pool Town, Xuchang County, has been cutting down on his food intake. He hopes that the money he saves can help save the life of his head teacher, Liu Huanping. Yesterday morning, in the ward of the Provincial People's Hospital, the life of Liu Huanping, an outstanding national tutoring teacher, was in critical condition. Next to her bed lay more than 8900 yuan in loose change.
This is the third time that teachers and students from No.1 Middle School in Jiangguan Pool Town, Xuchang County, have donated money to Liu Huanping who is suffering from illness. Currently, teachers and students from the school as well as people from all sectors of society have already donated over 120,000 yuan for Teacher Liu.
Outstanding teacher collapses at the lectern
"Her life has been saved, but there are still hidden dangers." At the Provincial People's Hospital, Teacher Liu Huanping's attending physician told reporters.
Liu Huanping was born in 1967 and started working at No.1 Middle School in Jiangguan Pool Town, Xuchang County after graduating in 1987. She successively received honors such as Outstanding Tutoring Teacher of Henan Province and National Outstanding Tutoring Teacher. Liu Huanping teaches chemistry at No.1 Middle School in Jiangguan Pool Town and has always been the head teacher of the graduating class. She alone taught chemistry to three classes with over 300 students. According to a teacher who has worked with Teacher Liu for many years, on the morning of February 19th, Teacher Liu gave her usual chemistry class. That day, the students could tell that Teacher Liu was unwell and having difficulty breathing. The students urged her to see a doctor, but she insisted on finishing the class. Eventually, she couldn't hold on any longer and around noon, Liu Huanping suddenly collapsed unconscious on the lectern.
Rare disease prompts students to save their teacher by saving food
Teacher Liu was sent to the town hospital by her students and colleagues, but the hospital was unable to diagnose her condition. Teacher Liu was then taken to the county hospital, but they were also unable to diagnose her illness. On February 26th, Teacher Liu was transferred to the Provincial People's Hospital for treatment. However, even this rare disease puzzled the experts at the Provincial People's Hospital. After consulting with experts from Beijing Union Medical College Hospital, it was finally determined that Liu Huanping had contracted a very rare severe pneumonia in the country.
Experts believe that this disease is related to her overwork. Previously, Teacher Liu had felt unwell, but she thought it was just a cold, so after taking some simple medication, she continued teaching, ultimately leading to the deterioration of her condition. To save Teacher Liu's life, a foreign-imported drug must be used. In the first few days, Teacher Liu's medical expenses were between 10,000 and 15,000 yuan per day. For her, whose monthly salary had just increased to over 1000 yuan, this was undoubtedly an astronomical figure. After learning about Teacher Liu's condition, her not-so-wealthy relatives managed to gather nearly 80,000 yuan, but the money was quickly spent. To help Teacher Liu return to the podium sooner, the entire school spontaneously donated money to her, and the students saved part of their weekly meal allowance to contribute. So far, the students have organized three fundraising activities, donating over 120,000 yuan in total. These funds eventually helped pull Teacher Liu back from the brink of death, and currently, she is out of immediate danger.
Calling for love to help the excellent teacher return to the podium
In the ward of the Provincial People's Hospital, I met Teacher Liu whose condition has improved but remains physically weak. The ward is filled with various blessing cards and paper cranes made by the students for Teacher Liu. Several parents visiting Teacher Liu looked solemn.
One parent said that although Teacher Liu is no longer in critical condition, her daily medical expenses still amount to several thousand yuan, which is far beyond what the students' donations alone can cover. They hope that kind-hearted individuals can help Teacher Liu Huanping so that this national outstanding teacher can return to the podium she loves as soon as possible.
