Wu Yinxiong, Chengdu Business Daily reporter, Tang Xiaojun, photography report According to the information, all the passengers on the bus were locals. They arrived in Chengdu at 10 pm on November 29 and rented this coach on December 1 in Chengdu, planning to head to Weihai, Shandong. The driver Du Mou confessed that the vehicle he drove was a chartered bus from Changshu, Jiangsu to Nanbu. On December 1, after arriving in Nanbu, the empty bus passed through Chengdu and was rented by these 63 people. He charged each person between 230 yuan to 270 yuan.

At 4:16 PM on December 1, the No. 2 Detachment of the Third Brigade of the Cheng-Mian-Guang Expressway Traffic Police divided their forces into two routes to strictly inspect vehicles entering and leaving Sichuan. When the police legally inspected a large passenger bus with the license plate number Su A 901XX at the Qipan Pass Toll Station, they found that the route sign was not placed in the designated position, and the driver appeared nervous, evading questions. The police immediately asked the driver to show the route sign and opened the luggage compartment of the bus for inspection. However, when the side cover of the luggage compartment was lifted, there were actually 8 children inside.

Yesterday, Captain Zong Ruo Yun of the No. 2 Detachment of the Third Brigade of the Cheng-Mian-Guang Expressway Traffic Police introduced that after further investigation, it was confirmed that the driver surnamed Du, originally from Nanjing, Jiangsu, was driving from Chengdu to Weihai, Shandong. The bus had a capacity for 55 people but carried 63, exceeding the limit by 8 people. The children inside the luggage compartment were aged 14-18 years old. The driver confessed that the rectangular soft cushions and wooden boards inside the luggage compartment were used for the children to sleep on. There was also a ventilator installed to prevent problems caused by insufficient oxygen inside the luggage compartment.

Due to the overloaded bus and the serious nature of the offense, Du was penalized with a deduction of 6 points and fined 300 yuan. Additionally, because Du did not depart from the bus station, which constituted off-station organization of passengers and did not meet safety standards and relevant procedures were non-compliant, according to relevant regulations, Du was given the maximum penalty of a 3000 yuan fine.

In the luggage compartment of the bus, "windows" were opened, hiding 8 children.

At 2:50 PM yesterday, during routine checks at the Guangyuan South Toll Station by the Third Brigade of the Cheng-Mian-Guang Expressway Traffic Police, two over-capacity passengers were found in the toilet of a large passenger bus with the license plate number Shaan D57205. At 4:15 PM, one over-capacity passenger was found under the bed covers of a sleeper bus with the license plate number Lia A G5022. The traffic police department imposed a fine of 300 yuan and a deduction of 6 points on both buses.
