Japanese company SoftBank has recently announced a $200 million investment in the mobile advertising company InMobi. This amount will be injected in two tranches — $100 million in September 2011, followed by another $100 million in April 2012.
InMobi's current investors include Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers and Sherpalo Ventures.
InMobi founder and CEO Naveen Tewari said: "The scale of the investment and the quality of the investors validate the tremendous potential in mobile right now, reinforcing our role in helping shape the industry. We've positioned ourselves as leaders in mobile advertising, but this is just the beginning."
This partnership will provide opportunities for SoftBank and InMobi to explore global expansion collaborations in the rapidly growing mobile advertising market.
SoftBank added that, given the large number of Asian internet companies in its portfolio, this deal is expected to further enhance synergy between the company and InMobi.
