Yangmei is highly favored by garden and residential community greening personnel. Yangmei generally prefers transplanting with large seedlings. The cultivation of Yangmei should be transplanted after 3-4 years, with a plant distance of 4m or 6m being ideal, but it can also be determined according to actual needs.
The size of the planting hole is determined by the thickness of the Yangmei sapling, ideally 0.5~0.8m long and wide, and 0.4~0.6m deep. Before transplantation, sufficient base fertilizer should be applied at the bottom of the hole (or fertilized after successful planting). Large Yangmei seedlings must carry a soil ball, the size of which depends on the sapling. Generally, for a trunk diameter of 3~5cm, the soil ball diameter is 15~30cm.
When lifting Yangmei saplings, first dig out the soil around the soil ball, then use grass rope to firmly bind the top of the soil ball to prevent it from loosening. Then dig out the soil at the bottom and cut off the main root, gently lift it to the ground, and then use grass rope to tightly bind the entire soil ball.
Before planting Yangmei, the branches and leaves should be reasonably pruned according to the required tree shape to prevent excessive evaporation of water leading to dryness. After placing the sapling in the planting hole, the grass rope should be cut around to facilitate close contact during backfilling, and also to make the grass rope decompose easily. After planting, the surface soil around the seedling roots should be 5~10cm higher than the ground level, and water thoroughly once. Consider shading based on the transplanting season, and the survival rate generally can reach above 95%.
