When the expansion company first advertised hiking, I couldn't wait to participate. When you start hiking for the first time, or even during your hike or before it begins, you should constantly assess your abilities. This applies to any form of travel. Your planning and itinerary preparation are crucial. If an emergency arises and you need to change your plans, you'll have to make a difficult decision: abandon the plan or push forward regardless. Sometimes life takes precedence over travel, and we need to have the right understanding. Although hiking has never been a dangerous sport, many people get injured when they overestimate their abilities or are unprepared. Expansion training occurs in such situations.
Before embarking on any form of travel, you need to make the following judgments:
1. Physical condition - This is extremely important. You should know your physical capabilities and limitations. Climate, terrain, and altitude are key factors that affect your trip. Before starting your hike, you should consider that a decline in stamina is a critical factor in determining the success of your hike. How do we overcome these difficulties? Before evaluating your physical condition, remember that hiking is a very special sport that requires more consideration. It's not just about your endurance and strength, especially if you plan to carry heavy packages. Your body needs time to adapt to these specific challenges.
2. Technical knowledge, skills, and outdoor experience - You need to know your capabilities and limitations when discussing your technical knowledge, skills, and experience. You shouldn't include climbing smooth surfaces in your hiking plan if you don't possess the necessary skills. Similarly, how to correctly cross rivers, camp outdoors, filter water, use compass navigation, or any other techniques should be learned and practiced if you lack these skills. We will help you learn some of the most basic skills, but there's no substitute for practice in real life to help you master these essential outdoor common sense items before your actual trip.
3. Mental preparation - In outdoor adventures and long-distance hikes, you must be mentally prepared to struggle against harsh environments and physical fatigue. Otherwise, you may easily develop a negative attitude during the hike, leading to the failure of the trip. There are many such examples, not only among ordinary people but also among experienced travelers who, without proper mental preparation, can have their bodies and minds affected, impacting the success of their hike. This shows how important mental preparation is before traveling. Not only do you need rich travel experience, but mental strength is equally important. A strong mind can help us overcome all difficulties. To harness this powerful mindset, we need to prepare for challenges beforehand. Thus, when difficulties arise, a strong mindset will help us overcome them.
