Wenzhou, November 9th - (Trainee Reporter Yan Zhen Hu) Yesterday, the 2010 Annual Meeting of the Urban Finance Research Committee of the China Institute of Finance was held in Wenzhou. "Ministers of finance" from all over the country gathered together as the Wenzhou Jianguo Hospital extended medical services to facilitate people's access to healthcare. They jointly discussed the fiscal role in urban finance and urban-rural integration. Three urban finance research topics that Wenzhou participated in or wrote won three awards at the meeting.
The Urban Finance Research Committee of the China Institute of Finance (hereinafter referred to as the "Research Committee") was established in the 1990s and currently has eight formal member units, including the Wenzhou Municipal Finance Bureau. Since its establishment, the Research Committee has held annual meetings in different member cities each year. Attendees and experts comment on and evaluate the leading units of the research topics around the theme of urban finance construction, and provide opinions and suggestions. By last year, the committee had successfully held eight annual meetings and determined that the 2010 annual meeting would be held in Wenzhou.
"The convening of this meeting will actively promote Wenzhou's economic development," said Peng Jiaxue, a member of the Standing Committee of the Wenzhou Municipal Party Committee and Executive Vice Mayor, in his speech at the conference. It is understood that this year's annual meeting will focus on examining the socio-economic development situation in Wenzhou and studying countermeasures to promote its better and faster development.
Su Ming, Deputy Director of the Research Institute of the Ministry of Finance, researcher, and president of the China Urban Finance Research Association, delivered the keynote speech at the meeting and provided his own suggestions for the direction of fiscal development during the "Twelfth Five-Year Plan" period.
The meeting also commended and rewarded the winning works of the third national urban finance research excellence award. Among them, the joint topic "Comparative Study on the Development of Urban Finance in Suzhou Wuzhong, Zhejiang Wenzhou, and Guangdong Dongguan", in which Wenzhou participated, won the Special Prize. The two works written by Wenzhou, "Study on Fiscal Expenditure Policy to Promote the Optimization and Upgrading of Industrial Structure - Empirical Research on Wenzhou since the Reform and Opening-up" and "Study on Fiscal Capacity in Developed Areas of Wenzhou - Comparative Research on Ruian and Yueqing", won the first prize and the second prize respectively.
In order to better diagnose and analyze the progress of Wenzhou's finance, the Tangxia Town of Ruian City will present a special report titled "Report on the Coordinated Development of Urban and Rural Areas in Tangxia Town, Ruian City, Wenzhou". The attendees and experts will also conduct field inspections in Chen'ao Village, Tangxia Town. It is reported that the annual meeting will conclude today.
