General Auto Decoder Direct Sales Mall (Pay after satisfaction upon delivery). The so-called car decoder looks square, with a small antenna sticking out. For the corresponding vehicle model, within tens of meters, it can easily open the electronic door lock.

The decoder was originally a tool for diagnosing car problems and electrical components in auto repair shops. But in recent years, it has been exploited by criminals and evolved into a car theft tool. This type of car theft is gradually spreading from coastal areas to inland cities like Wuhan. Based on their different working principles, the "decoders" in the hands of car thieves are mainly divided into the following three types:

Jammer Type. When the car owner uses the remote control to lock the car door, the car thief uses the decoder to emit electromagnetic waves to interfere with the electronic signals sent by the remote control, making the owner mistakenly believe that the car door is locked. After the owner leaves, the car thief can then open the car door.

Sprayer Type. Within about 10 meters, the car thief uses the decoder to send out electromagnetic waves to "blindly scan" surrounding cars, issuing unlock commands which might open the locks of some cars.

Radio Receiver and Laptop Combined Decoder. When the car owner uses the remote control to open or close the car door lock, the car thief uses a radio receiver to intercept the electronic signal sent by the remote control. This intercepted electronic signal is then input into a laptop, where specific computer software analyzes and decodes the signal. The decoded electronic signal is then copied. At the same time, the car thief notes down the license plate number and secretly follows the car owner to understand the parking habits. They then use the opportunity to take advantage of the copied electronic signal to unlock the car door and steal the car. Due to the complexity of this method, car thieves using this technique usually target high-end vehicles.

As a car repair tool, there are currently no special regulations governing car decoders. Relevant parties have suggested: relevant departments should strengthen the management of car decoder transactions to prevent these advanced car repair tools from being exploited by criminals. For example, in terms of sales channels, buyers should be required to present identification and register, while underground transactions should be eliminated.
