Assailant Surrenders 6 Hours After Committing the Crime
On the morning of November 22, the Criminal Investigation Team of the Chaling County Public Security Bureau received an emergency call about a fight at the residential building of the Chaling County Transportation Bureau. Upon arrival, the police found that the fighters had already left. There were bloodstains all over the entrance and the guard room of the Transportation Bureau's residential building. The injured person was sent to the hospital but later died after unsuccessful resuscitation efforts.
The investigation confirmed that the deceased was surnamed Fan, 36 years old, and worked for the Chaling County Quality Technology Supervision Bureau.
There was a surveillance camera above the crime scene, and the police immediately retrieved the surveillance footage.
The video showed: At around 9 a.m. on November 22, a pickup truck followed Fan’s Honda car to the entrance of the residential area of the Transportation Bureau. Fan drove his car into the courtyard, while the pickup truck parked by the roadside. Subsequently, Fan and a man came out from the courtyard and talked on the side of the road for a few sentences before the man left. At this point, a man got out of the pickup truck and started talking to Fan. Suddenly, Fan pulled out a pointed knife. Then, two more men got out of the pickup truck, each holding a spear gun, while the man who was talking to Fan also took out a shovel from the car. The three began chasing and beating Fan. Fan ran into the security guard room of the neighborhood. After the three chased him inside, Fan came out covered in blood and soon collapsed on the ground.
The police quickly locked onto the suspects. Around 15:00 on the same day, the three suspects who had fled to Changchun contacted the Chaling police. By 20:00, the police brought back the three suspects who had surrendered themselves.
It was learned that the three suspects were Du Mou, Liu Mou, and Zhu Mou, all in their twenties.
Suspects Were Instructed to Teach the Deceased a Lesson
Due to Suspicions That the Deceased Was Using His Authority to Extort Money
The three confessed that they were workers at the Sanba Brick Factory in Chaling County. Fan had multiple times come to the factory to collect fees or "borrow" money, ranging from two to three thousand yuan each time. The factory manager suspected that Fan was extorting money under the guise of collecting fees. On November 12, the three had gone to the Chaling County Quality Technology Supervision Bureau to report Fan. That evening, Fan led people to smash the window of a small car belonging to the Sanba Brick Factory near the Ximarket in Chaling Town, and the car body was also damaged. Afterwards, a responsible person from the brick factory instructed Liu and the other two to find an opportunity to teach Fan a lesson. On the morning of the 22nd, Liu and the other two drove a pickup truck to Chaling County to handle some business. Along the way, they met Fan by chance and decided to track him to the residential area of the Transportation Bureau where they assaulted Fan.
In the afternoon of the same day, the three hid in the Yuan Dong Wholesale Market area in Changchun City. Later, upon learning that Fan had died, they called to surrender themselves.
Currently, Liu and the other three have been criminally detained, while the brick factory manager who instructed the assault is still at large.
