According to the old man's introduction, they have lived together for nearly 90 years. When they were young, they occasionally had arguments, but "never stayed mad at each other." Now, they care more about each other and "can't live without each other even for a day."
Speaking of his long-time companion, Yang Shengzhong said: "She has been good to me all her life, and now she still cooks for me." His wife, Jin Jifen, said: "I married him when I was 16. He was good to me, so I decided to stay with him for life."
Nowadays, in their home in Chongqing, there are five generations living under one roof, with filial children and a harmonious family. Many people ask this centenarian couple for the secret to their longevity. They always reply with simple rural language: "Keep active every day," "Family harmony is important," "Stay calm no matter what difficulties you encounter," and "Be content."
According to Xinhua News Agency (reporter Yan Fulei), in Dangzhen Village, Tongzhou Town, Pingtang County, there lives a couple whose combined ages add up to 215 years. Not long ago, they were recognized by the Chinese Youth Science Society as the longest-living centenarian couple currently alive in the country.
Nowadays, although their hearing and vision have gradually weakened, decades of life together have made these two elders extremely默契. They only need a glance or a gesture to understand each other’s meaning.
The husband's name is Yang Shengzhong, 109 years old, with a skilled carpentry craft. Villagers from miles around would willingly hire him to build houses and make furniture due to his good character. People in the village call him "Wan Wannianhe" (a nickname for longevity). The wife's name is Jin Jifen, 106 years old, a traditional rural housewife. While her husband worked outside, she managed the household and raised their children.
