As early as 2003, I also built a website, but at that time it was just for fun. In terms of skills, optimization, and lessons learned in building websites, it was basically not up to par — like a child who couldn't get it off the ground. Over time, I gradually abandoned it and continued to focus on my physical transactions, such as Li Ning specialty stores. Haha, this isn't an advertisement. During the economic crisis of 2009, business wasn't going well, so I had some free time and started researching website construction again. I never officially launched a site but kept learning how to build one. After learning enough, I decided to start with a simple domain.
I chose an event-type website. Why did I choose this type? I noticed that the entertainment industry and online hype are very powerful now, and many people pay attention to various events such as the "Shou Shou Gate," "Diary Gate," "Feng Li Ge," and "First Night Gate" incidents. So, I suddenly had the idea to create a specialized website targeting these types of events. Let's skip the small talk and get straight to the point.
**Step One:**
You must first choose the type of website you want to build and its direction of development. You can't just think of something and do it. Once you've chosen your type, consider which group of people would be interested in visiting your website. Think about what methods you can use to retain users. Relying on search engine traffic through optimization is good, but it doesn't necessarily make a successful website. A successful website has high user retention and repeat visits. Many websites have succeeded, but I won't list them all here.
**Step Two:**
Choosing the right server and program is crucial. The stability of the server and the security of the program are necessary factors in website development. If the server is unstable and often inaccessible, it will affect user trust, and search engines may lower your site's ranking. The server's access speed is also important. I suggest avoiding cheap servers that host hundreds or even thousands of websites. Although it saves money, the speed is usually poor. Another critical reason is that if one website on the same server gets penalized, the entire IP might get penalized, affecting your site as well. I recommend finding a large IDC provider for shared servers, hosting no more than 20 websites. Choose the line based on your needs; I use Donyi's dual-line service for 10 people, and it's super fast, with the potential to reach exclusive 2M bandwidth.
For programs, there are generally ASP and PHP options. ASP is represented by Donyi, while PHP is represented by DEDE (no detailed explanation here). Templates are preferably DIV+CSS. For ASP programs, I recommend using ASP.NET because it calls databases faster and offers flexible tag creation. DEDE is also good, relatively easier to develop compared to ASP.NET. Donyi has powerful tag functions, but it's complex without SQL knowledge. I chose Donyi ASP.NET. If you need help creating tags, feel free to contact me! QQ: 78160025
**Step Three:**
Go to Baidu Index and Hot Keywords to select the keywords for your homepage. This is crucial for your future search rankings, so you must choose carefully. Once selected, don’t change them frequently as it’s not SEO-friendly. As for category and content page keywords, figure out what works best for you. Read more about optimization strategies, which I won't elaborate on here since it can't be explained in a few sentences.
**Step Four:**
This step is key to whether your website will succeed, but it's also the most tiring and requires patience—adding content. You’ve probably read many articles mentioning "Content is King," and this is absolutely true. Content is the most important aspect. Ideally, it should be original. But if you're not sure how to do that, here are a few tricks to gradually achieve originality. Learn pseudo-original techniques: find the core content you need to write about, reference others' articles, add some words yourself, and remember to change the title to something unique. Integrate your own language into others' articles, especially at the beginning and end. This way, you create a pseudo-original article. It's best not to rely on scraping tools, as they are everywhere now. All the articles on my small event website are personally added, each processed. Write a few original pieces yourself, and within two days, search engines will index your site. If your site gets indexed within a few days, you're already halfway to success. Then, update regularly without interruption.
The above is just a bit of personal experience I wanted to share with everyone. I hope everyone prospers in 2010. Please don't remove the links when sharing this post. Thank you!
