White-collar neck care is very important. "Many people think that twisting the neck slightly is a trivial matter, but for the neck, it's a big deal." Experts introduce that from the back of the head to the collarbone, all belong to the territory of the neck. There are cervical vertebrae, lymph nodes, trachea, esophagus, arteries, and densely distributed nerves in the neck, which is not as "structurally simple" as many people think. "The food required for human survival and the air we breathe must pass through the neck to enter the body. The instructions issued by the brain also need to be transmitted to the limbs through the neck. The neck is the link between the head and the body, once it is cut off, life will no longer exist."

The neck is so important, yet it is often neglected by people. "Just like breathing, people don't particularly notice its existence on a daily basis until problems arise and then they realize its importance," said the expert. According to a survey by the Ministry of Health, 70% of white-collar workers suffer from varying degrees of 'office diseases', two of which are related to the neck. Pharyngitis tops the list of the five major 'office diseases', and another one is an increasing number of cases of cervical spondylosis. A statistical investigation of nearly 300 cervical cases from across the country by an orthopedic expert at a certain hospital also found that middle-aged and young people under 40 account for 48.1% of the cervical spondylosis population.

Small tricks for white-collar neck care:

1. Salt-filled bags are very effective. Sew a long pocket, fill it with coarse salt, seal it and heat it in the microwave for a few minutes. Every night when you sleep, place it under your neck, warm and hot is suitable, which can relieve neck discomfort.

2. Fly kites and swim more often. Staying too long in a position looking down or leaning forward can cause neck pain. Flying kites and swimming are both good ways to relieve neck pressure.

3. Stand up with your head held high and chest out. Some people have the habit of standing hunched over, sticking their necks forward, which increases the force on the neck. This small action of holding your head high and chest out can reduce the burden on the neck.

4. Wear a good neck pillow when sitting for a long time. A comfortable and supportive neck pillow allows the neck of someone who sits for a long time to maintain a correct posture and curve. However, the neck pillow only has an auxiliary function and cannot be used as a treatment method.

5. Only lying flat can provide complete rest. Experts point out that the neck can only rest completely when lying flat. People accustomed to sleeping on their backs can flatten the middle of the pillow before sleeping, and the neck position should be elevated; the height of the pillow should be the same as the height of their own fist. When sleeping on the side, the height of the pillow should be consistent with the height of one and a half fists, ideally 10-15 centimeters.
