Huang Zhen used to be a "poor child." Unlike other entrepreneurs, Huang Zhen didn't start talking about her career life but rather a past story from her youth, about the pros and cons of underfloor heating. Huang Zhen is from Dagong Village, Gongshan Town, Nanling County, Wuhu City. Her family's financial situation was average when she was young, and schooling was quite a "tough" matter for her and her sisters. "The main issue was that the school was too far away, about fifteen miles. We had to get up before five every morning to make breakfast ourselves." When the weather was good, she would ride her bike to school, taking seventy to eighty minutes; on rainy days, she could only walk, spending two hours walking down, arriving at school as a little mud person. This happened twice a day, regardless of seasons, throughout her junior high school years. "Looking back now, it really wasn't easy, so hard, sometimes I wouldn't drink water all day in winter."
After saying these things, Huang Zhen smiled again, saying she wasn't intentionally exaggerating anything, just thinking that these old stories were somewhat related to her current strong and persistent personality, as well as her belief and perseverance in entrepreneurship. After graduation, Huang Zhen was assigned to work at the Wuhu Textile Factory, then worked at a building materials company after being laid off, which is when she came into contact with the currently thriving underfloor heating products.
Two months of zero orders
At that time, business trips were a regular occurrence, and Huang Zhen often went to Hangzhou and Shanghai for meetings, where the comfortable homes with high-tech in big cities left a deep impression on her. "Electronized, humanized home appliances and furniture let people live very comfortably." Why couldn't such good things spread in her hometown of Wuhu? Believing in the promising future of the product and the excellent experience it brought, Huang Zhen conceived the idea of opening her own store, and the more she thought about it, the more feasible it seemed, making it harder to dismiss. In the second half of 2010, she decisively resigned from her managerial position with a monthly salary of over six thousand yuan and devoted herself entirely to her "warm" business.
The reason Huang Zhen chose "underfloor heating" also had some personal sentiments. "I used to watch European movies where children played happily barefoot on the floor even on cold days, and I envied them greatly. Now that there are such products, I want my own child to enjoy them, and I want more families to enjoy them." Therefore, Huang Zhen invested all her savings and borrowed quite a bit of money, renting a storefront in the New Era Commercial Street, officially starting the agency sales of "Hengkang Underfloor Heating."
Starting is always difficult, and the market was far from what she had imagined it to be. Huang Zhen began frequently visiting delivery centers at various real estate offices, participating in housing expos, and distributing flyers to potential customers. "I've received white eyes, and met people with looks of annoyance." Huang Zhen recalled that she once did not receive a single order for two consecutive months, "only going out without coming in, with labor and rent costs, losing nearly 20,000 yuan per month." However, this girl did not retreat; she encouraged herself in her own way. Finally, she made her first sale, then the second, the third...
Business is about reputation and integrity, and Huang Zhen firmly believed in this, treasuring each customer. She personally attended every construction site, sometimes getting up at five in the morning and not finishing until eleven at night, with holidays being like "clouds" to her. When asked if she was tired, she simply shook her head and said, "Nothing much, it's all like this." Due to her seriousness and responsibility, many initially picky customers became her friends and introduced her to more business. "Feelings come from interaction, treating people sincerely is never wrong."
"A warm life, how great"
Effort always pays off, and now Huang Zhen's business is flourishing. Her team has grown from an initial three people to ten people, averaging six to seven orders per month since the beginning of the year. Not only has the variety of underfloor heating products reached four or five kinds, but she has also begun "crossing boundaries" to act as an agent for floors. "Soon I'll be moving, to Hongxing Meikailong Home Plaza, officially opening at the end of the year." Huang Zhen said she wasn't superstitious about famous brands venues, but hoped that doing so would give customers a more assured and perfect feeling.
