Maybe you've been holding off buying a tablet until Windows 8 arrives. Maybe you're really excited about walking around with an ARM-based Windows - what with the greatly improved battery life it might offer over Intel or AMD chips. If both of these things are true, you're in for a treat: Windows 8 will include ARM-based Office 15 applications. (WOA) In Steven Sinofsky's recent, 8000-plus word blog post detailing Windows on ARM, he revealed some interesting tidbits. One, he said, is that the Windows desktop remains an important part of WOA, and ARM users will still have access to the desktop and desktop apps. Of course, apps will need to be ported to the ARM architecture, but it's good to get the extra confirmation that WOA's Metro-style apps aren't confined to just that. It's also worth noting that WOA will include the core Office 15 applications: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and OneNote. Sinofsky mentioned that the goal for WOA is an " uncompromised product," and Microsoft knows that Windows users will want access to industry-leading productivity applications, even on non-x86 desktops and laptops. That's a pretty solid four-pack of free apps. Confused? You've got reason to be. Microsoft still hasn't driven a truck away filled with cash from Office, so it's a little strange to hear that they're giving it away with WOA. Then again, this is the same company that has given consumers ad-supported (but still mostly free) Office Starter as well as free use of Office Web Apps. Why not throw in some ARM apps, too? But perhaps Sinofsky meant that both will be included in the Windows 8 Consumer Preview along with Office 15, giving users a chance to test them both out at the same time. This could be the case since, aside from being downloaded or purchased by consumers, ARM-based Windows won't be offered - you'll only be able to buy hardware with WOA pre-installed. So what's Microsoft playing at here? Are they giving away the apps and looking to introduce a Dropbox-like storage SkyDrive plan to match us with subscriptions? It's already been widely publicized that Windows 8 will feature heavy SkyDrive integration, so Microsoft could indeed be looking for ways to create a recurring revenue stream from Office users - rather than selling people an upgrade every few years. 【Small town stock market engaged in enterprise website construction, website optimization, website promotion, overall marketing planning and implementation of enterprise e-commerce, owns a well-known team in SEO industry, with rich practical experience and higher technical strength, provides you with website SEO optimization services, with "marketing and conversion rate" as the goal, let customers see intuitive effects.
