According to reports (by reporter Li Jun, correspondent Li Jun and Ye Junbin), a driver of an unlicensed taxi fled the scene and ran over an enforcement officer. Yesterday, this reckless driver was criminally detained by the Hongshan District Public Security Bureau.
At around 5:10 PM on the 20th, city and district "anti-illegal taxi" task forces discovered a black "Cheermaster" sedan with license plate number EAH8A52 picking up passengers near Wuhan Sports Institute. After negotiating a price with a waiting female passenger, the driver took her towards Jiedaokou. Inspection personnel followed the vehicle, and when the illegal taxi reached the opposite side of Qunguang Plaza, they stopped it. Officers from the Hongshan Public Security Bureau approached the vehicle, signaling the driver to turn off the engine and park for inspection.
Upon seeing this, the driver immediately told the female passenger to get out of the car, then stepped on the gas pedal and reversed in an attempt to flee, dragging down an officer from the Hongshan Bureau who had already partially entered the car's front passenger seat. The driver did not stop but instead sped up and drove over the fallen officer, injuring him.
Inspection personnel moved forward to block his escape route, but this reckless driver desperately shook off the inspection vehicles and quickly fled towards Jiedaokou. The inspectors blocked his way at the entrance of New World Department Store. Ignoring the consequences, the driver violently rammed into the right rear side of the inspection vehicle, causing damage to the inspection vehicle and injuring the officers inside.
In the end, the inspectors forced the illegal taxi to stop and handed it over to the Hongshan Public Security Bureau and Hongshan Traffic Police Brigade for handling. Currently, the driver of the illegal taxi has been criminally detained.
According to statistics, a total of 14 illegal taxis were seized across the city yesterday. Among them, 8 were from Hongshan District, with license plate numbers EAN8G78, EAXC748, EAH8A52, EAU7832, EAF0US7, EAY1360, EAB9V07, and EA5M512; 2 were from Jianghan District, with license plate numbers EA8F641 and EAN8L82; 2 were from Qingshan District, with license plate numbers EAE6Z98 and EAU6S15; 1 each from Wuchang Railway Station and Kou District, with license plate numbers EAQ1C46 and EK2A389 respectively.
