Winning Customers: Shopaholic -- Insights on Starting a Business

Regarding this matter, it must be clarified. I have never been a shopping addict. Before using Taobao, I strongly opposed this practice. The internet was merely a platform for me to watch movies and play games like Shuangkou.勉强将聊天纳入其中。Online shopping? What an international joke! Everything changed on that fateful evening. Life is full of miracles and fate is unpredictable because you never know what your unintentional actions might change—whether for better or worse.

Before joining Taobao, I spent half a month on EachNet. In my subconscious, I rejected Taobao. It wasn’t until someone repeatedly mentioned "Taobao" to me, with a high attitude of the world being drunk while I was awake, that I fell into the abyss of Taobao. Since then, I couldn't extricate myself. Real life is filled with work, responsibility, and rare rest used for sleeping or traveling, leaving no time for shopping. This often results in not finding suitable clothes, matching bags, or sun-blocking hats when planning to go out. Especially as summer approaches, shopping becomes a torment. Under these circumstances, how could one not be immersed in Taobao, which integrates all products worldwide, allowing for easy and free one-click purchases? I've only recently realized that this is inevitable, a trend that cannot be stopped by human will—it's destined.

So I freely wandered through Taobao, forgetting the hustle and bustle of the world, spending money so enjoyably—why wouldn't I continue? If it weren't for a sudden realization one day to check my bank balance, this state might have continued from May until now, turning me into a new member of the moonlight clan (those who spend all their income each month).

Why do we live? Asking such a question here may seem quite disharmonious and unreasonable, but it isn't. Because the answer to this question reveals its meaning: We live for happiness; everything else is external. So after restraining myself for nearly twenty days, I still resolutely returned to Taobao’s embrace.

Why Taobao? There are so many shopping platforms—EachNet, Joyo, Dangdang—why Taobao? I've thought about this for a long time. Perhaps it's due to the overwhelming consensus around me—everyone talks about Taobao, thinks about Taobao, so naturally, I can only shop on Taobao.

The items I purchase on Taobao mainly consist of skincare products. In the past, I knew nothing about them—what is toner versus facial water, what is lotion versus essence—all were mere fantasies to me. Not until becoming a loyal Taobao customer did I begin to learn comprehensively—not only investigating many international brands but also understanding their subtle differences.

The common trait of skincare products is persistence, but I am inherently lazy. After using many products for seven to eight days, I simply ignore them, and many items remain unopened to this day. In this sense, Taobao has led me to lead a wasteful lifestyle, stubbornly sticking to it.

It's true that women inherently love beauty, but why don't they have the perseverance to continue? This proves to me that it's just flattery and a method. After all, skincare itself doesn't change much; real beauty comes from makeup. There are no ugly women in this world, only lazy ones—and I am that lazy one. Yet this lazy woman remembers to browse Taobao daily and uncontrollably buys useless things again.

Writing this reflection is not to prove how much I love Taobao, nor to prove how extravagant I am, nor to prove that I'm slacking off at work. It's merely to express my thoughts, feelings, and reflections on Taobao.

For many modern people, time is the most precious. Taobao fills this void. For many women unwilling to leave home, Taobao is the best way to get what they need. There's nothing you can't buy if you can think of it.

The only reason I feel wasteful is because I buy things I actually don't need. This isn't Taobao's fault but rather my own for choosing the wrong items. Of course, Taobao isn't without flaws—some product qualities are exaggerated, and there are too many counterfeits, making it hard to distinguish between genuine and fake items. Thankfully, so far, I haven't encountered anything too terrible.

If I have time, I'd still prefer to shop in malls or small stores; seeing is believing, more real and attractive than pictures. But this is just an idea. In reality, my choice is to sit in air conditioning, listen to music, browse web pages, compare different brands, and live this leisurely wasted life—equally exciting!

What we seek on Taobao isn't treasure but our mood, broadening our horizons, observing trends, discovering preferences, and passing the time.

Living freely and spontaneously, everything goes well—Isn't that better?
