Yesterday, it was reported that the Chaoyang Court sentenced seven people, including Chu Shanpo, to prison terms ranging from two and a half years to suspended sentences for the crime of provoking trouble.
Chu Shanpo, Gu Zhijiang, and Jiang Qinghua were all involved in the wholesale business of preserved eggs in Beijing. Upon learning that victim Xiang Mou was also engaging in the preserved egg wholesale business in Chaoyang District, they conspired to drive him out of the Beijing market. Under Chu Shanpo's direction and financial backing, Wang Sheng and his wife Pan Jingling rented a stall at the Dongchang Lihua Market in Chaoyang District to purchase goods from Xiang Mou as an opportunity for retaliation.
On June 16, 2009, Pan Jingling lured Xiang Mou and Xiong Mou to the location under the pretext of needing delivery. After informing Chu Shanpo, he then instructed Wang Zhendong and Zhu Ji Yuan, who were gathered by Wang Zhendong, to arm themselves with steel pipes and other weapons to assault Xiong Mou and Xiang Mou at this location. This resulted in a fractured left fibula for Xiong Mou and a fractured left ulna for Xiang Mou. Both were assessed as having minor injuries after medical evaluation.
The court ruled that in order to monopolize the preserved egg market, Chu Shanpo et al. incited Wang Zhendong, Zhu Ji Yuan, and others to randomly attack their competitors, resulting in minor injuries to two individuals. Wang Sheng and Pan Jingling lured the victims to the crime scene under Chu Shanpo's instructions so that others could carry out the assault. The actions of all seven individuals constituted the crime of provoking trouble.
