It is important for white-collar workers to take care of their necks. "Many people think that twisting the neck is a trivial matter, but for the neck, it can be a big deal." Experts introduce that from the back of the head to the collarbone, all belong to the neck's territory. Inside the neck, there are the cervical vertebrae, lymph nodes, trachea, esophagus, arteries, and nerves distributed densely, which is not as "structurally simple" as many people think. "The food required for human survival and the air we breathe must pass through the neck to enter the body. The instructions issued by the brain also need to be transmitted to the limbs through the neck. The neck is the link between the head and the body; once it is cut off, life will no longer exist."

The neck is so important, yet it is easily neglected by people. "Just like breathing, people do not particularly notice its existence on a daily basis, only realizing its importance when problems arise," said the expert. According to a survey by the Ministry of Health, 70% of white-collar workers suffer from varying degrees of 'office diseases,' two of which are related to the neck. Pharyngitis ranks first among the five major 'office diseases,' and the other one is an increasing number of cases of cervical spondylosis. A statistical investigation conducted by orthopedic experts at a hospital on nearly 300 cervical cases nationwide also found that middle-aged and young people under 40 account for 48.1% of the population suffering from cervical spondylosis.

Small Tips for White-Collar Workers to Take Care of Their Necks:

1. Salt bags are very effective. Sew a long pocket, fill it with coarse salt, seal it, and heat it in the microwave for a few minutes. When sleeping, place it under the neck until it feels warm and comfortable, which can relieve neck discomfort.

2. Fly kites and swim more often. Staying in a position where you're looking down or leaning forward for too long can cause neck pain. Flying kites and swimming are both good ways to relieve neck pressure.

3. Stand up straight with your head held high. Some people have the habit of slouching and sticking out their necks while standing, which increases the stress on the neck. Lifting your head and standing straight can reduce the burden on the neck.

4. Wear a supportive neck pillow during prolonged sitting. A comfortable and supportive neck pillow can help keep the neck in the correct posture and maintain the proper curve during long periods of sitting. However, the neck pillow only serves as an auxiliary tool and cannot be used as a treatment method.

5. Only lying flat allows complete rest. Experts point out that the neck can only get complete rest when lying flat. People who are accustomed to sleeping on their backs can flatten the middle part of the pillow before sleeping, and the neck area should be elevated. The height of the pillow should be the same as the height of your own fist. When sleeping on your side, the height of the pillow should be consistent with one and a half fists, ideally around 10-15 centimeters.
