Our staff reporter - During work, a co-worker accidentally dropped raw materials on the ground which led to an argument between Li Erlang, a migrant worker from Hebei province in Beijing, and his co-worker. In the heat of the argument, Li Erlang stabbed the other person to death with a sharp knife used for work, a mail marketing tool. Recently, the First Intermediate People's Court found Li Erlang guilty of intentional injury and sentenced him to 12 years in prison.
Li Erlang, aged 44, was a worker at Beijing Kai Guo Wei Ye Waterproofing Materials Co., Ltd. According to court investigations, around 14:00 on July 13, 2011, inside a compound inMagecun Village, Chengguan Street, Fangshan District, due to trivial matters, Li Erlang had a verbal altercation with his colleague Hou Mou which escalated into a physical fight. Li Erlang stabbed Hou Mou under the left armpit with a single-edged knife, injuring Hou Mou's left pulmonary hilum and causing acute hemorrhagic shock leading to death.
It was reported that the cause of their quarrel was when Hou Mou accidentally dropped raw materials on the ground during work, Li Erlang began to insult Hou Mou, leading to a physical altercation. Li Erlang then picked up a single-edged knife nearby and stabbed forward.
After stabbing someone, Li Erlang returned to the dormitory and was later apprehended.
