Chutian Golden Newspaper reported that reporter DaPeng Cao covered the story: A dog walker was almost hit by a vehicle, and the driver immediately apologized. What was expected to be a minor issue quickly escalated when the dog owner would not let it go. Eventually, this small incident turned into a farce that lasted over 20 minutes, involving traffic obstruction, physical assault, bike throwing, and knife threats. Yesterday afternoon, the reporter witnessed such an event at Dingsi Bridge in Wuchang.
At 2:55 PM near the intersection of Dingsi Bridge Road and Wuluo Road in Wuchang, a young couple was walking two pet dogs through the non-motorized vehicle lane. At this moment, a middle-aged man riding an electric scooter approached. Even though he had braked, he still bumped into the dog leash; fortunately, neither people nor animals were injured. After apologizing, the middle-aged man attempted to leave, but the young man holding the leash loudly shouted, "Don't go!" He then stopped the scooter.
He walked up to the scooter, pointing at the rider's forehead while shouting loudly, "You hit it, you hit it?!" Subsequently, he began assaulting the scooter rider, punching him in the face, chest, and arms. The reporter happened to pass by the scene and immediately stepped forward to mediate, only for the young man to pull out a ten-centimeter-long knife from his waistband, threatening the reporter: "It's none of your business, go away!" Then, the man jumped up and kicked the scooter, breaking its headlights.
Five minutes later, the right-turn lane was completely blocked. Vehicles behind honked their horns as a signal, yet the young man paid no attention, continuing to beat and scold the scooter rider. The woman accompanying him held the two dogs and tried to persuade him to stop, but he wouldn't listen. "Tell me how much compensation you want, stop hitting," the scooter rider helplessly requested the man to cease. However, the attacker continued kicking the scooter body until the lights were broken, and the outer shell fractured.
More and more onlookers gathered as the situation unfolded. The scooter rider suggested calling 110 for mediation, to which the attacker yelled, "Call 110? Let's settle privately! You dare call 110?" The young man showed no signs of stopping and further lifted the scooter before throwing it down, even pulling out the key.
Due to the roadblock, the duty traffic police arrived at the scene and took both parties to the crossroad booth for adjustment. Despite repeated advice, the young man persisted in his behavior, rendering the mediation ineffective.
At 3:20 PM, the police arrived and took both individuals back to the Dingsi Bridge police station for further handling.
