Emmanuel Bombi recently traveled to Beijing with his wife and newborn daughter to visit the set of Jiang Wen's new film "Let the Bullets Fly." Bombi, the producer of "New York, I Love You," took time out of his schedule to visit China as his film is set to premiere in the U.S. on October 6th. "New York, I Love You" features renowned directors such as Jiang Wen, Fatih Akin, and Shunji Iwai.
Bombi expressed great interest in Jiang Wen's latest project. As a result, Jiang Wen introduced the outline of his new film and showcased costumes from the Beiyang Warlord era, along with the guns that will be used in the movie. This thrilled Bombi so much that he joked about changing careers to acquire the overseas distribution rights for the film.
Bombi praised Jiang Wen's segment in "New York, I Love You" as one of the most outstanding stories in the entire film. The story does not take place in New York's Chinatown but rather in Greenwich Village, a famous artist hub. The film stars many celebrities, including Andy Garcia from "The Godfather," Hayden Christensen, the actor who portrayed Anakin Skywalker in "Star Wars," and Rachel Bilson, the lead actress from the popular American TV series "The O.C."
Due to work commitments, Jiang Wen was unable to attend the film's premiere in the U.S., so Bombi promised to return to Beijing to host a special screening for Jiang Wen. Subsequently, Bombi updated Jiang Wen on the preparation status of the third installment of the "Cities of Love" series, "Shanghai, I Love You," and invited him to shoot another film in the U.S. Jiang Wen agreed to honor this invitation after completing "Let the Bullets Fly."
