According to reports (by reporter Penghao Wang and correspondent Rui Dong), on the night of October 1st, a college student from outside of Beijing attempted to take his own life at the cable car station of Fragrant Hills Park's Incense Burner Peak. After receiving the emergency call, two policemen quickly arrived at the peak and successfully rescued the man.
Seeing the situation, the policemen could only remain where they were and continuously counsel the individual. Half an hour later, the man said that he was a college student from out of town who had become depressed due to a breakup. He had come to Beijing for medical treatment. "At the time, he said he wanted euthanasia," the policeman said. After hearing this, they immediately responded that they could help him apply for it, which finally made him put down the fruit knife.
Subsequently, the police quickly moved forward and took control of him. Currently, the police have contacted the young man's family, who have already arrived at the Fragrant Hills Park police station to take him back.
At around 11 PM that night, the Fragrant Hills Park police station received an emergency call stating that in the cable car station of Incense Burner Peak, someone was attempting suicide with a knife. After receiving the call, two on-duty policemen quickly set off with lighting equipment and informed the park management office about the incident.
After more than an hour of climbing, the policemen and a staff member from the park management office successively reached Incense Burner Peak. After searching several times, the policemen discovered a young man holding a fruit knife inside the cable car. Seeing the suddenly appearing policemen, the man became somewhat panicked and loudly shouted "Don't come closer."
