Recently, renowned experts and scholars in the field of SME informatization gathered together: Huang Xiaojian, Executive Vice President of SAP Greater China Region, Kuang Ning, General Manager of Renwoxing Software, and Pan Jiayao, Professor at Tsinghua University's School of Economics and Management, jointly discussed the hot topics currently being focused on in the SME informatization market at the Beijing Yanshan Grand Hotel. According to recent statistics from the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC), there are currently 3.02 million SMEs in China. This year, the central government has allocated 50 million yuan for the first time as a special fund for SME development, and has included the implementation of the "Promotion Law for SMEs" and the allocation of special funds for promoting SME development as one of the key contents of the 2004 central government budget. Recently, the China Securities Regulatory Commission (CSRC) also announced that the SME board is about to be launched in Shenzhen. As the most dynamic part of the global economy, SMEs are once again presented with a great opportunity for growth. Meanwhile, SME informatization, an important component of SME development, is also awaiting new changes.

Huang Xiaojian believes that many enterprises' informatization processes have been led by others! All their customers or upstream and downstream partners already possess increasingly powerful informatization tools. To conduct business with them, without effective informatization tools, they may be excluded. Secondly, e-government in our country is becoming more developed, such as the tax system and other government systems. This forces SME users to keep pace with these developments and cross this threshold.

SME informatization is often not planned from an enterprise-level perspective but rather to support a specific department. The current status of informatization for Chinese SMEs is that they already possess the most basic conditions for informatization. The key now is how to advance to enterprise-level informatization.

When discussing the difficulties of SME informatization, Kuang Ning believes that the needs of SME informatization have become complex and fragmented.

Within SME informatization, there can be large-scale applications. Even within Renwoxing's defined range of applications costing less than 100,000 yuan, from the perspective of application needs, the size of the enterprise does not necessarily correlate with the scale of its application needs - very large enterprises often have very basic informatization applications, which fall into the medium and small application category.

Conversely, sometimes very small enterprises can have larger application needs. For example, an ice cream wholesale company in Jinan, Shandong, needed a distribution ERP system to centrally manage over 200 downstream dealers and recently implemented a CRM system.

The requirements for SME informatization construction are beginning to become intertwined and fragmented. Understanding user needs and providing appropriate applications will no longer be simple.

When talking about solutions for SME informatization, Kuang Ning, based on Renwoxing Software's positioning in the mid-to-low-end market, believes that for the vast majority of SME applications, the main solution at this stage is simplification ("idiot-proof"), while consulting services are urgently needed for high-end applications in the SME market. Renwoxing plans to build a team of "informatization models." Renwoxing Software aims to serve SMEs...
