I say Mr. Teng is a 51-year-old man from Qishih Town, Jilin Province who has been working in Pingyang for nearly 13 years.
In the spring of 2000 in Pingyang, he met Ms. Qin. Both had experienced failed marriages and their unique emotional traumas quickly led them to establish a lover's relationship.
After living together for 8 years, due to personality differences, they broke up in the winter of 2008.
On the evening of May 9 this year, Mr. Teng was wandering at Mingzhu Square in Aojiang Town when he accidentally met Ms. Qin. They then walked together back to Ms. Qin's temporary residence.
Mr. Teng said that before their separation in 2008, he had lent Ms. Qin 70,000 yuan to open a store. After her clothing store went bankrupt, Ms. Qin only repaid him 4,000 yuan.
During their conversation that night, he learned that Ms. Qin was currently employed by an insurance company in Pingyang with a good income. Thinking about the large sum of money he had recently lost gambling, Mr. Teng asked Ms. Qin to immediately repay him. Unwilling to do so, an argument ensued between the two. In the process, Mr. Teng strangled Ms. Qin and pushed her to the ground, then stabbed her to death with a three-edged scraper he carried with him.
After the incident, Mr. Teng fled hastily. At 4:38 PM on May 11, Ms. Qin's landlord discovered her body and reported it to the police.
At 11 AM on May 13, Mr. Teng was captured by the Pingyang police at his temporary residence in Aojiang Town.
By this time, Mr. Teng was nearing collapse. He told the police that after the incident, he had attempted suicide four times but all were unsuccessful: first, he used a kitchen knife to cut his right hand at home, bleeding profusely into two large bowls before clotting; second, he went to the Ou Nan Bridge in Wenzhou and jumped into the river to commit suicide, but was pushed onto the mudflats by the river water; third, he bought five packs of rat poison and ran up the mountain, eating them all, but vomited through the night without dying; finally, he returned home and inserted a wire into a socket, but his body was thrown out by the wire...
The police also noticed deep wounds on Mr. Teng's hands.
Mr. Teng said, "This is fate, heaven does not allow me to escape legal punishment. No matter how much I regret, it's useless now."
