Our intern reporter Zhang Jian and reporter Yu Jie report:

Yesterday afternoon at around 3:00 PM, outside the Apple Store in Sanlitun Village, a conflict arose between a foreign man and those in line, causing disorder at the scene. A glass door of the store was broken during the chaos, and multiple people were injured. Currently, Chaoyang police have become involved in the investigation.

Apple Store Door Broken

Yesterday afternoon at around 4:00 PM, outside the Sanlitun Apple Store, there was still a large crowd of people waiting in line. However, the south entrance of the store was cordoned off with barriers, and one of the glass doors was missing. Several police officers were investigating inside the store. The Apple Store had put up a sign that read, "Under construction, please excuse us as we are working hard to make this store better." On-site security stated that normal operations would not be restored that evening, and it was uncertain whether the store would open the next day.

Multiple witnesses described that around 3:00 PM, a foreign man walked out from inside the store into the crowd, dragging a young man to the ground and then shoving a middle-aged woman. This foreign man, wielding a stick, also struck another man on the head, injuring him. Due to this conflict, the situation became chaotic for a time, with many people rushing into the store. During this process, there was a loud crash, and it was discovered that one of the store's glass doors had been shattered.

Witnesses stated that after the incident, police arrived on the scene to investigate. Those injured in the conflict were taken away by an ambulance. The reporter attempted to enter the store for an interview but was refused.

Injured Treated

It is understood that at least three people were injured in the conflict, one of whom had a severe head injury. These individuals were sent to the nearby Chaoyang Hospital for treatment.

At 8:00 PM last night, police came to the hospital to question the injured. A male victim surnamed Ding said that at the time, he was queuing with his mother, preparing to purchase a white iPhone 4. Due to the large number of people in line, security personnel dispatched by the store repeatedly entered the queue to clear out some queue-jumpers and scalpers. A foreign man walked out from inside the store and approached him. "This guy was over 1.9 meters tall and very strong. He grabbed my clothes and lifted me up," Mr. Ding said. Subsequently, he was dragged for tens of meters and thrown to the ground. His mother stepped forward to reason with the man but was also shoved. Multiple pieces of evidence indicate that this person was wearing an Apple uniform.

Subsequently, many people gathered around, surrounding him at the store entrance demanding an explanation. Mr. Ding said he did not know these people. The crowd's attempt to enter the store to find the attacker was blocked by security, leading to further friction. Amid the chaos, the Apple Store's glass door was shattered, though it is unclear whether it was crushed or smashed. Mr. Ding also mentioned that he does not have formal employment and works odd jobs. During the conflict, he sustained a wound on his right waist, diagnosed as soft tissue contusion, requiring hospital observation.

Store Clears Out Scalpers

After the incident, many netizens posted photos related to the event on Weibo. The photos show a pile of broken glass at the entrance of the store. Staff members of the store continuously washed the ground with water. Two male victims were lying on the ground, one of whom had a waist injury and was the aforementioned Mr. Ding being treated at Chaoyang Hospital.

At around 9:00 PM last night, outside the Sanlitun Apple Store, the store posted a notice stating that they would drive away illegal traders and scalpers around the store. As of press time, the Apple Store has not responded to the incident. Chaoyang police confirmed the smashing of the Apple Store's glass door.
