Our News (Reported by Baiyun) On September 7, the Li Village Criminal Investigation Team of Lüquan City captured three individuals suspected of robbery. The three are suspected of jointly robbing bank withdrawers, but all three suspects are deaf-mutes, which has caused difficulties for the police's interrogation work.
Suspects trailed bank withdrawers
This is a segment of the bank surveillance from July 22, as it was the day of the total solar eclipse, and outside the bank entrance, citizens could be seen holding film and looking up at the sky.
At 9:03 that day, shortly after the bank opened, a man walked into the business hall behind several customers. This man first stood with his hands behind his back reading the rules and regulations on the wall, then sat in the waiting area, staring at the customers conducting their business.
At 9:09, an old man in a white shirt walked out of the business hall, and this man subsequently got up from his seat and followed him out. The surveillance outside the bank continued to capture the scene outside: the elderly man left with his bag, and the trailing man rode a motorcycle, circled around the bank entrance, and disappeared. A few minutes later, the old man was robbed of 4500 yuan cash on his way home.
The stolen mobile phone is still in use
The aforementioned case is merely one among more than ten robberies that have occurred since last September. Captain Feng Lidui of the Li Village Criminal Investigation Team introduced that for a period of time, the police frequently received reports from the public stating that they were followed by individuals riding motorcycles after withdrawing money from banks, and then had their belongings snatched or robbed. On the morning of August 6, a middle-aged woman from Zhengding County fell while being forcibly dragged by the suspects who tried to snatch her handbag placed in the basket of her bike, resulting in fractures of four ribs and the collarbone, causing serious injuries.
During the investigation and correlation of all cases, the police discovered that initially, the suspects only snatched or robbed cash, but later developed into also taking other valuables like mobile phones. One victim's mobile phone had continuous consumption records after being robbed. After investigation, the police surprisingly found that the suspect used this mobile phone without dialing any numbers, only sending messages. The police initially suspected that the suspect might be a deaf-mute.
All three suspects are deaf-mutes
On the afternoon of September 7, the police captured the first suspect Guo Mou in Xingtang County. As the police had inferred, Guo Mou is a deaf-mute. The police brought in a teacher from a special education school to communicate with Guo Mou, and subsequently captured two more suspects, Li Mou and Hu Mou, on the same day.
What the police did not expect was that all three were deaf-mutes. Currently, the decoded sign language indicates that the three had worked on the same construction site, where they met. However, further interrogations regarding the motive for the crime encountered difficulties due to their lack of knowledge of standard sign language. Moreover, because the three had limited literacy, the police fully recorded the entire communication process of the interrogation and submitted it together to relevant departments as evidence.
Currently, the police have preliminarily confirmed 12 cases, involving over 50,000 yuan. The police remind that recently, unlawful individuals have shifted their targets to withdrawers at rural credit cooperatives and banks, advising withdrawers to remain vigilant.
