Baoji - A group of young people in Feng County got drunk and beat up a passing car driver on the evening of July 24. They then went on to attack anyone they saw, smashing any cars they came across. They even attacked police officers who arrived at the scene to stop them, resulting in one passing driver and three patrol policemen being injured. Currently, eight suspects involved have been placed under criminal detention.

Eyewitness: This group of people is too outrageous

Yesterday, at the scene of the incident on Tianshui Road in Feng County, several eyewitnesses expressed the same sentiment: "This group of people is too outrageous. They attacked anyone they saw, smashed any cars they came across, and even attacked the police. Other vehicles were scared to drive past here."

According to an eyewitness, at around 11:40 PM on July 24, a small transport vehicle with Sichuan license plates stopped on Tianshui Road. The driver got out of the car to buy cigarettes when he was suddenly surrounded and beaten by several young men. The driver quickly ran back to his car, and this group started smashing the car. One of them used a stool to break the car's windshield, pulling the driver and another person out of the car to continue beating them. The driver was beaten to the point of kneeling down and begging for mercy, yet these people continued relentlessly. Later, the two beaten individuals ran down Tianshui Road until the police eventually controlled the situation, and the injured driver returned, holding his buttocks and limping. "When the police car arrived, we thought everything was fine, but then this group started attacking the police. Three or four police officers were beaten down. Later, many more police arrived to control the situation."

Some eyewitnesses claimed that this group often fought in Feng County.

Attackers: Whoever dares to catch me will be retaliated against

The main attackers were four individuals. When the first batch of police officers arrived, this group continued to assault people while making arrogant statements.

Injured patrolman Deng Chao said that on that night, they were patrolling when a taxi driver reported "a fight ahead." Upon arriving at the scene, they found several young men beating someone. Patrolman Zheng Xiaolong was the first to get out of the car to stop them. Unexpectedly, two young men approached Zheng Xiaolong, kneeing him in the chest and elbowing his head. Deng Chao said that he rushed forward to rescue Zheng Xiaolong but was also assaulted. Subsequently, another patrolman was also injured, prompting them to immediately call for backup.

Upon receiving the distress call, patrol team leader Lu Yongqiang immediately led over ten patrolmen to the scene. Seeing the increased number of police officers, these young men arrogantly declared, "Whoever dares to catch me will face retaliation after I'm released." Officers from the Shuangshipu Police Station of Feng County Public Security Bureau stated that after being taken back to the station, this group continued their arrogance, even attempting to throw ashtrays at the police officers.

Police: Rational law enforcement, strict handling

According to Director Liu Donghai of Feng County Public Security Bureau, suspect Gong Songlin was celebrating his birthday on the night of the incident. He had invited 24 people, and they consumed 12 bottles of white wine at a hotel before moving on to drink beer at a KTV. After dispersing, Gong Songlin, Zhang Fan, Gong Chao, Chen Bo, and others headed towards Tianshui Road. On Tianshui Road, Gong Songlin and others unreasonably assaulted Sichuan driver Jiao Mou and used iron-backed chairs and stones to smash Jiao's vehicle. When the patrolmen arrived to stop them, Gong Songlin and multiple others surrounded and attacked the patrolmen, resulting in three patrolmen being injured. Currently, Feng County police have criminally detained Gong Songlin and seven others on suspicion of disturbing public order and obstructing official duties.

Liu Donghai mentioned that during the event, there were over a hundred onlookers. Throughout the process, the police maintained rational law enforcement, showing restraint and handling the situation appropriately.

Yesterday, the three injured police officers have been discharged from the hospital. Feng County's procuratorial authorities have now intervened in the case.
